Welcome from our Principal
Welcome to West Kirby School and College where our teaching, clinical and whole school staff team are enthused by the opportunity to support, help and enable children and young people. Our motto is 'Changing children's lives'.
As a team, we are driven to inspire and motivate pupils, ensuring they are equipped with knowledge, skills and experiences which will help them achieve their goals and ultimately reach their full potential. We understand that each child and young person is different and has individual needs. Therefore we tailor teaching, learning and therapeutic interventions - making activities accessible so pupils can flourish and thrive.

FAO STEM Leads/SENCos - local schools Join us for our first SENsational STEM Digital Discovery Day! Next Tuesday 24th June. Part of our SENsational STEM Schools Community Hub at West Kirby School and College. This will be a virtual day, delivered by our Science Teacher Mr Scullion. Aimed at KS2&3 and would particularly benefit SEN pupils. The theme of this Digital Discovery Day is Recycle, Reduce, Recycle. A day of interactive engineering challenges in your own classrooms, using everyday materials that are recyclable or biodegradable; and we encourage you to share your ideas. Join us Tues 24th June at 9.30am for a livestream Welcome & introduction to your STEM activity challenges. For attention of WKS Parents and Carers: Tomorrow, Tues 17 June, is 'LitFest' at West Kirby School and College! A literacy festival style celebration of words and imagination... We will be hearing readings from visiting Authors & Poets who will kindly be gifting their books to the pupils. Alongside craft and cooking workshops. West Kirby Bookshop are also joining us and will have a bookstall with books available for sale. There will also be LitFest memorabilia (T-shirts). Pupils can use their 'Going for Gold' rewards to purchase these items, or they may wish to bring in a small amount of money. We hope they enjoy the day!

Why West Kirby School?
A rich, varied, aspirational curriculum
Our curriculum and wide range of qualifications relevant to our pupils' needs, is designed to enable our young people to reach their potential. We provide our pupils with aspirational opportunities, academic and vocational, with over 19 subject choices at GCSE or equivalent.
Our support services are intrinsic to pupils' educational success
We provide a holistic approach to our pupils', integrating education and therapeutic support, to support both learning and our young people's complex special educational needs. Our Support Services include Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Pastoral Care, Reading Support and Home School Liaison.
Our culture of understanding and acceptance
Pupils' differences, individual talents and skills are celebrated and nurtured. We aim to develop our pupils' self-esteem and encourage them to take pride in all their achievements. Our safe and accepting space also allows pupils to express themselves so they feel part of our community.
Wellbeing and mental health
At West Kirby School wellbeing activities are part of our weekly curriculum. Every Friday afternoon is dedicated to wellbeing and our pupils are involved in adventures and activities on and off site.
