Outdoor Day: adventure, challenge and teamwork
West Kirby School & College took learning beyond the classroom for a fantastic Outdoor Day, giving pupils the opportunity to try new activities, take on challenges and enjoy time in nature.
Pupils took part in a wide range of activities, including kayaking and paddleboarding, climbing and bouldering, mountain walking, horse riding, mountain biking, slacklining, den building and football. There were also opportunities to take part in eco activities and explore different ways of learning outdoors.
Outdoor learning is about much more than adventure. Spending time in nature can support mental wellbeing, physical health and personal development, while providing valuable opportunities for pupils to build confidence, resilience, independence and teamwork.
It was wonderful to see pupils challenging themselves, trying something new and supporting one another throughout the day.
Adventure, challenge, teamwork and nature. Sometimes learning happens when we step outside.
