Following a full Ofsted inspection in July2026  we are proud to share the inspector's feedback report, published September 2026. 

The report highlights strong standards across a number of important areas, including inclusion, leadership and governance, attendance and behaviour, personal development and wellbeing, and our Post 16 provision. It also recognised our aspirational curriculum, and that pupils' achievement extends well beyond the academic."

Headteacher Richard Hicks commented: "Inspectors judged our school as strong across five areas, and 'strong' is exactly the right word.

"It reflects not only the standard inspectors found, but the strength of relationships, the strength of support, and the strength of belief we hold in every one of our pupils.

"This is a proud moment for our whole school community, and it belongs to every member of staff who goes above and beyond for our young people, every single day."

 

Highlights of the report can be found below:

A safe, inclusive and supportive school

One of the key strengths identified by inspectors is our inclusive culture. The report states:

“The school's inclusive culture is a significant strength. It runs through every aspect of the provision.”

Inspectors found that staff know pupils and families well, identify individual needs carefully and put appropriate support in place. As a result, pupils settle quickly, feel safe and are supported to engage fully in school life.

The report also recognised the strong relationships between pupils and staff, noting that:

“Pupils feel safe, valued and included.”

Personal development and wellbeing

Personal development and wellbeing were identified as a strong standard and a significant strength of the school.

Inspectors recognised the wide range of opportunities pupils have to develop confidence, independence and resilience. This includes Pupil Voice, our Ambassador programmes, wellbeing activities, outdoor learning, life skills, STEM opportunities, community projects and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

The report states:

“Personal development and wellbeing is a significant strength of the school and is woven into every aspect of pupils' experiences.”

Inspectors also highlighted that pupils are encouraged to understand their strengths, take pride in their achievements and develop a positive sense of identity.

Achievement

The report recognised how "The school supports pupils to progress successfully from their starting points, and pupils achieve well academically and gain a range of formal qualifications, including GCSEs across a range of subjects. Pupils' achievement extends beyond the academic."

"Pupils develop a range of social skills that help them become more confident, independent and
able to advocate for themselves. They strengthen their communication skills, learn to
manage their emotions with increasing success and are prepared well for the next stage of
their education."

And that, "pupils move well through key stages and adapt well to the increasing demands of subject-
specific learning. Sustained destinations after key stage 4 demonstrate the positive impact
of the school's work.

"Pupils leave with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for their future."

Curriculum & teaching

"High aspirations sit at the heart of the curriculum, and pupils benefit from a broad and ambitious curriculum that encourages them to achieve well."

Attendance, behaviour and relationships

Attendance and behaviour were also judged to be at a strong standard. Inspectors found that leaders identify concerns quickly and put appropriate support in place. They noted that attendance has improved and that many pupils have made significant improvements since joining WKS.

The report also recognises that pupils' behaviour improves with the support provided by the school, creating a calm and inclusive environment where pupils can learn successfully.

Preparing pupils for the future

Our wider curriculum and opportunities beyond the classroom were recognised as important parts of pupils' development. Inspectors highlighted experiences such as community work, charity projects, residential visits, the school bakery and Post-16 work experience.

The report states:

“The school's wider offer prepares pupils well for adulthood.”

Our Post-16 provision was identified as a strong standard, with inspectors praising the personalised curriculum and the focus on independence, confidence, employability and preparation for adult life.

A strong focus on pupil voice

Pupil voice was also recognised as central to our work. Inspectors highlighted the opportunities pupils have to represent their peers, take on leadership responsibilities and contribute to the wider community, including through our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors and Pupil Empowerment projects.

The report states:

“Pupil voice is central to the school's work.”

This reflects our commitment to ensuring pupils are not only supported, but are given opportunities to influence school life and make a positive contribution.

Looking ahead

Inspectors recognised the strength of the Leadership & Governance. Judged Strong Standard.

How "All leaders in school drive improvement forward at pace. They have a razor sharp focus on
what the school's many strengths are. Equally, they are focused on where continued
improvements need to be made. These improvements are so that pupils in all areas of the
school's work receive a transformational education.""

"Every decision that leaders, governors or trustees take are made with pupils and students at the centre. They have a strong core belief that the pupils who attend the school should receive the very best academic and social education they can in order to become an active member of wider society. In many areas of the school's work, they succeed. In those areas which are not quite as strong,
improvements happen at pace to bring them up to the same standard as other areas of the
school's work.

We are proud that the inspection recognised the dedication of our staff, the strength of our relationships with pupils and families, and the positive progress our young people make.

Most importantly, the report reflects what we see every day: pupils who are developing confidence, independence, resilience and the skills they need for their futures.
