Space Discovery Day at West Kirby School & College
On 19th March, pupils at West Kirby School & College took part in an exciting Space Discovery Day, with a focus on bringing science to life through engaging and interactive learning experiences.
Following feedback from previous Discovery Days, this event focused specifically on science, giving pupils the opportunity to explore space in greater depth. Throughout the day, pupils took part in workshops during their usual science lessons, alongside additional sessions in the hall led by staff and visiting specialists.
We were delighted to welcome visitors from the observatory, who showed pupils how to explore the night sky using satellites and online telescopes. Pupils learnt how to identify stars and even track planes, gaining a real insight into how technology allows us to observe and understand the world beyond our planet.
In the lead-up to the day, pupils were introduced to the theme through a short video and had the opportunity to take part in a space-themed quiz, encouraging curiosity, research, and independent learning.
The day provided a fantastic opportunity for pupils to develop their understanding of space in a fun and engaging way, while continuing their normal timetable for other lessons.
We look forward to building on this success and broadening future Discovery Days to include a wider range of subjects across the curriculum.
